According to Apple there is an app for just about everything on the available for the iPhone. From thousands of games to hoards of other apps for things like tracking how much you eat or planning a trip across the country, the App Store has it all.

AT&T now announces the launch of their latest app that lets family members track other family members are at all times. The app is called the AT&T FamilyMap App and it is available now on the App Store.

In a recent report Credit Suisse Research analyst Jonathan Chaplin said that he thinks that Apple’s iPhone will remain the exclusive territory of AT&T for at least the next 12-18 months. This estimate far surpasses the expectations of many wannabe iPhone users who are tied to other carriers and runs counter to the recent rumors of a pending Apple/Verizon deal. Chaplin not only expects the device to remain exclusive but also forecasts a major negative impact on Verizon due to the delay. These factors have caused him to reduce Verizon’s rating from “Outperform” to “Neutral” and cut his share price target for that company from $32 to $30.

Verizon is once again firing shots at AT&T’s 3G ads with three more TV spots. The new Verizon ads, titled “Big Red”, “Sail” and “Shadows” continue the companies’ quest to smear the AT&T 3G network.

 Two of the three ads are actually spoofs of classic commercial campaigns; “Big Red” spoofs the old Big Red gum commercials while “Shadows” spoofs the DaBeers “Diamonds are forever” commercials.

This morning AT&T announced that it will soon allow the SlingPlayer Mobile app for the to stream video to iPhones over their nationwide 3G network.

Sling Media’s SlingPlayer app allows iPhone users to watch video recorded at home from anywhere on the go. To date the SlingPlayer iPhone application has been limited to Wi-Fi-only only access for streaming video. AT&T has cited bandwidth concerns on their 3G network for this limitation.

In response to the recent price reductions from it’s major competitor Verizon, AT&T introduced new unlimited plans for all devices on it’s network last week. Those new plans are scheduled to take effect sometime today iPhone customers can now sign up for unlimited voice and data for $99.99 per month, but (and this is a big one) texting packages will remain a separate feature and will still be offered for an additional fee. The unlimited voice and data plan represents a $30 discount from the previous unlimited plan for the iPhone.
