Mayo Clinic releases two mobile apps

Mayo Clinic has announced the creation of two mobile applications (Symptom Checker and Meditation) for release in the first quarter of 2010 with the second one becoming available in the iTunes store today.

In the above video, Scott Eising, director of Advance Market/Product Development at Mayo Clinic, describes the use and benefit of Mayo Clinic Symptom Checker. The app Symptom Checker is Mayo Clinic’s first free application for iPhone and iPod Touch, and was released today. Download the free app (App Store Link).

iControlPad for iPhone development team says release imminent

The iControlPad team has announced that the release of their new product is ‘imminent’. It appears that the basic iControlPad will be a simple sleeve into which the iPhone is placed.  The device will offer a D-pad and two analog joysticks, four control buttons and two function keys (Start and Select).  The upgraded model will include a battery which can be used to recharge the iPhone/iPod touch to help maintain the device’s power during gaming.

Expedia updates TripAssist app for iPhone

Expedia has released a “massive” upgrade to their TripAssist application for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Late last week, the it was announced that Apple was removing all “overtly sexual” applications from the App Store. So far the list of applications that have been removed from the store have included a number of games as well as novelty apps and adult themed slideshow apps. The above graph, provided by AppShopper.com, shows that on a normal day, around 100 apps are removed from the App Store including forced removals by Apple as well as instances where a developer has chosen to remove an application from sale.

According to Apple there is an app for just about everything on the available for the iPhone. From thousands of games to hoards of other apps for things like tracking how much you eat or planning a trip across the country, the App Store has it all.

AT&T now announces the launch of their latest app that lets family members track other family members are at all times. The app is called the AT&T FamilyMap App and it is available now on the App Store.
