I'm thinking about upgrading my camera. I am looking at the D60 or D300 by Nikon. I know that there is a huge price difference between these models but I am wondering if anyone else on here has experience with these cameras and can give me some insight. What would be the advantage of going with the 300 over the 60 and should I even be looking at these cameras anyway? Is there something else I should be looking at?

I would disregard the D60 and look at the D40, D80, and D300. The D60 has few features the D40 doesn't have with an inflated price tag.
I own a D40 and eventually will upgrade to the D80, I'm fairly certain that the D300 is just more camera than I need (not to mention the price tag). Check out the following URL for a great review of the D40: http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d40.htm My recommendation would be to go with the cheaper body at first and spend the extra $$ you saved on lenses. Since purchasing my D40 I've already invested over $1000 in lenses. Having an awesome camera body with crappy glass does you no good. The D40 even in the hands of a total newb such as myself can still take some great pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Wow, I didn't even know that the D40 existed. It sounds like it's more what I am looking for. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks Cfortner
