The famous Line Rider coming to iPhone App Store

Posted September 3rd, 2008 by GenghisPhlip

I reported this as a rumor months ago but now can report that the popular do nothing game Line Rider is officially coming to the iPhone. For those who don’t know, Line Rider has enjoyed a healthy cult following since its introduction to the web several years ago. In its original form the instructions are simple, just draw a line vertically from top left to bottom right, hit the play button and watch a little guy try to ride a sled down your line and fall off the end.

Legal tethering coming to the iPhone

Posted August 28th, 2008 by GenghisPhlip

Don’t start counting your chickens yet but it’s being reported that the Apple iPhone team is working on a deal with AT&T that may allow for legitimate tethering on the iPhone 3G.

Of course if you were on your toes you could have created a Wi-Fi hotspot with your iPhone using NetShare, but that app has long since been pulled then returned then pulled again from the Apple App Store and if you don’t have it now you probably won’t get it.

Once again the Dev Team has pulled through with some very important updates to both the Pwnage Tool and QuickPwn. Their latest comes in the form of PwnageTool 2.0.3.1. You can download it here.

Also, QuickPwn Release Candidate 3 has been released. Supposed to be fixed in this release is the issue for 64-bit Windows users and the new version is supposed to work for all Windows versions. Download QuickPwn RC3 here.

If you’ve been having a problem with jailbreaking, these releases should address your issues and as always, as much as we love the dev team we cannot guarantee that they will work properly. Please understand that you will use these programs at your own risk.

Apple releases iPhone 2.0.2 firmware

Posted August 18th, 2008 by GenghisPhlip

NOTE to jailbreakers: It is not clear at this time what effect this update will have on your jailbreak but it is assumed that it will return your iPhone to it’s previous, unjailbroken, state. Proceed with caution or even better, wait until the DevTeam makes an announcement as to whether their PwnageTool software is compatable with the new update.

We reported earlier that it was in beta testing but today Apple has released the 2.0.2 firmware for the iPhone. As usual, Apple gives us the cryptic explanation of the contents of the update as “Bug Fixes”. While many pray that the update will fix the much blogged about 3G connectivity issues, no confirmation on a fix has been made yet. Steve Jobs is said to have become personally involved with the connectivity problems promising that a software patch will be available “soon” to address the issue.

It is Sparkling: How we interpret this statement from DevTeam

Posted August 8th, 2008 by GenghisPhlip

When the iPhone DevTeam stated today “It is Sparkling” the announcement spread confusion around the world with many commenters to their site exclaiming thus. For those who do not know, Sparkle is a piece of software that is designed to simplify updating software for the end user of a program. Sparkle supports checking for updates via appcasting. The DevTeam’s announcement that “It is Sparkling” simply meant that the this program was being used to aid the update. Earlier, we took the statement literally and submitted a post stating that the update was available but since thanks to several keen-eyed observers we were able to make a correction. We are continuing to monitor the update and should have more news soon.

Thanks to all of the ifonenation.com members who helped out today!
