Today we are looking at Band app for the iPhone and wow is this a fun app! Band gives you five different instruments to play in landscape mode: Rock Kit, Funky Drummer, Bassist, Grand Piano, and 12 Bar Blues. It can record every instrument one track at a time, and replays each time a new instrument is recorded.

We’ve sung the praises and the pitfalls of the iPhone 3G; blazing 3G high-speed data GPS (pseudo) navigation of course the App Store, cracks in the case, poor battery performance and lack of key features. One feature that was for some reason left out of the second coming of the iPhone that really has our boxers in a bunch is stereo Bluetooth.

For all of you iPhone owners who are also XM Radio subscribers your two loves are about to meet and they should make a very nice couple. Vernon Irvin, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of XM Satellite Radio, told attendees of the Federated Media Conversation Marketing Summit in New York that XM is currently working on a native iPhone client for XM’s XM Radio Mobile service.

Griffin Technology, a well known developer of everything iPod, unveiled its newest accessory yesterday. They call it the iTrip AutoPilot and the company is advertising that it is not only ready for the iPod but the iPhone as well.

The New York Times reports that Apple is in talks with a few of the major music labels. They are discussing a deal that would allow next-generation (3G) iPhone owners to purchase music tracks directly from the device over existing cellular wireless networks. That’s right, iPhone users will no longer be ‘tethered’ to WiFi for music downloads!
Currently, to download music, iPhone owners use a mobile version of the iTunes Store but the device must be connected to the internet using a high-speed WiFi connection.
The introduction of faster 3G network access to the iPhone expected mid-June (or during the Apple’s developers conference) will make it more “technically feasible” to download music over-the-air reports the Times. (more…)

Here’s an interesting addition to our iPhone musical instrument set. The guy who brought us the cool as heck iPhoneSynth now gives us a drum machine that brings back memories of garage days with the Roland TR-909. While not as functional as the real thing, the clone is still pretty impressive for a phone app. But then again, this is not just some phone. Great job iPhoneSynth guy! Thanks for your hard work!
