Quake for iPhone 2.0 released on Cydia
Posted July 27th, 2008 by GenghisPhlipFinally a cool jailbreak app. Definately a great way to end the weekend – Quake4iPhone has appeared on the Cydia installer.
We reported earlier that ZodTTD was working on getting Quake ported to the iPhone – and it’s really nice to see that it is finally here.
Because the game was just released, I have not had enough time to do a full review but I can tell you that it plays well and does not appear to have any major bugs. The game has an Options area that allows you to adjust the settings for sound and music, and play is fairly speedy – moving around and firing are both easy to do.
Unfortunately the game does not make use of the iPhone’s accelerometer – But I am sure that all of you Quake fans out there are going to be happy none-the-less. ZodTTD had this to say about the new app:
As you can tell the site was having various connectivity and usage issues. Everything should be working fine now. If it’s not, use the contact form in the top menu to reach me.
The reason for the downtime was largely due to massive influx of quake4iphone downloads. Within a matter of a few hours, over 7000 downloads were completed. The number continues to rise way up today now that the ZodTTD.com webserver is under control!
So yes that’s right, I have released quake4iphone publicly for iPhone and iPod Touch firmware 2.0 users via the built-in ZodTTD Cydia repo.
I promise to have a full review on Quake4iPhone very soon so stay tuned!
Understand Russian?

Very nice. I’ve played it for about four hours now with no problems. Looks like a very solid jailbreak app.
Why can’t they put this in the APP store?
