Use your iPhone 3G to power your laptop internet
Posted July 21st, 2008 by GenghisPhlipiPhone superstar Nate True – creator of Tap Tap Revenge and a iPhone hack cracker jack from way back (Just wanted to say that) posted detailed instructions for tethering using your iPhone 3G. This will allow you to use the device and it’s 3G speed as a modem for the laptop or similar device.
Nate’s process requires a jailbroken iPhone 3G and laptop (or other device). It is somewhat involved and has a lengthy set of steps in which you must manipulate both the iPhone and a desktop browser. This is definately not for the faint of heart and I myself have not done it yet so I cannot help you yet should you get in trouble. It is also absolutely against the terms of your AT&T contract and doing it could leave you exposed to data overage charges!(I see you Canada!)
If you’re ok with all of the above warnings would like to give tethering a try you can check out Nate’s step-by-step guide (see link below)
I will be going through the process myself at some point over the next few days and plan to bring you extremely simple instructions (totally based off of Nate’s instructions) soon after that. My instructions will include clear screenshots and warnings about any problems that I run into following Nate’s instructions. If you’d like to wait till my instructions come out I don’t blame you but if you must do it now you can get to Nate’s guide here.
