Canadian protest against Rogers iPhone 3G rates goes mainstream
Posted July 4th, 2008 by GenghisPhlipYou’ve probably already read our posts about the Canacian petition against Rogers iPhone 3G plans that has been circulated via the website Ruinediphone.com and others. So far Thousands of Canadians have expressed their outrage over the iPhone 3G plans that Rogers Wireless will offer on July 11th. Some of them are so mad that they are willing to pay the $500 Early Cancellation Fee in protest. Apparently it’s not just the vocal bloggers who feel this way about it either.
Global TV recently aired a segment that pointed out the truth about Rogers iPhone 3G plans. They compared the Rogers plans with those that have been announced for iPhone 3G users in the United States and the United Kingdom and determined (as we all did the second we saw the rates proposed by Rogers) that Canadians will be getting ripped off. The plans will force Canadians to pay about the same amount of money as there U.S. and U.K. buddies but they will get only about a third of the service and no unlimited data.
Online personalities like Net Chick and iPhoneInCanada.ca’s Gary Ng express their anger in portions of the segment.
