Despite recent reports (including one shown here then updated yesterday) about a possible early release of iPhone firmware 2.0, Apple’s own iPhone 3G press release pinpoints July 11th to be the day of the 2.0 software launch:

iPhone 2.0 software will be available on July 11 as a free software update via iTunes 7.7 or later for all iPhone customers

This also goes with what Apple and AT&T representatives have been telling enterprise customers. The important thing to note here is that the firmware version is reportedly going into Golden Master status at the end of this week. Golden Master status means that it is ready for release to the public which in turn means that Apple is right on schedule with their July 11th goal.
