The cost of data plans in Canada have been a much talked about subject since the arrival of the iPhone 3G in Canada and the United States. After taking much heat for their unpopular iPhone 3G data plans in Canada, Rogers announced their six gigabytes for $30/month deal at the last possible moment. iPhone 3G users in the States can surf all they want with no data limitations for the same $30 a month. So what happens with a United States based iPhone 3G crosses the border into Canada? A good ole fashoned wallet gouging that’s what.
Well well well… It looks like Verizon has decided to fight back against the full on assault they have been taking from the iPhone 3G. They have given their employees a briefing about the new iPhone’s failings so that they can better answer questions about why Verizon does not carry the phone. The propeganda that they handed employees revolved around what they called the four big “myths” about the iPhone.
When the iPhone 3G and the App Store were released it was not long before some people began questioning whether it was still necessary to jailbreak the phone. Apple’s resellers worldwide tell us that all signs point to the eminent doom of Apple’s current line of iPods. We previously reported that some brand new iPhones are arriving with photos that appear to have been taken at the factory. It didn’t seem like a very big deal at the time but now that more are showing up we are scratching our heads. A marketing scheme gone viral? You be the judge.

NOTE to jailbreakers: It is not clear at this time what effect this update will have on your jailbreak but it is assumed that it will return your iPhone to it’s previous, unjailbroken, state. Proceed with caution or even better, wait until the DevTeam makes an announcement as to whether their PwnageTool software is compatable with the new update.
We reported earlier that it was in beta testing but today Apple has released the 2.0.2 firmware for the iPhone. As usual, Apple gives us the cryptic explanation of the contents of the update as “Bug Fixes”. While many pray that the update will fix the much blogged about 3G connectivity issues, no confirmation on a fix has been made yet. Steve Jobs is said to have become personally involved with the connectivity problems promising that a software patch will be available “soon” to address the issue. Read the rest of this entry »

If you are like me you spend more time traveling than you spend at home. My career has made me a 15 year veteren road warrior which keeps me in the air or in rental cars more than anyone should ever have to. I’ve often boasted that I could tour guide just about any airport, car rental agency or hotel in the world. It’s the logistics of it all that often leaves me scratching my head.
While both the iPhone and iPod touch were designed to be navigated using only your finger some have reported problems using it. Those with very large fingers or long fingernails report that the touch system is virtually impossible for them to navigate and type accurately. With those people in mind, Japanese engineers have introduced a new tool to help. They are calling it the iPhone Japanese Touch Stylus and it is reported to do everything that a skinny, short nailed finger can do. Read the rest of this entry »
